Last Weekend

I've filming and editing for the past 3 days - I think I have goggly eyes now! It's been great working with my filmmaker Nate and learning more about filming. I must admit I get bored easily so there is a lot of time spent waiting around setting up shots, getting the light right etc.

Episode 2 should be uploaded at the end of this week/ early next.

You'll get a peek into my new studio

and see me painting!
PS. Not sure if I have told everyone - I have my own Vimeo Page where you can now watch all the films in High Definition.

Deadly Beauty

From my recent visit to JJ Markets, I am inspired by Siamese Fighting Fish. I think these are going to be really love to paint.

Chatuchak Markets

My visit to Chatuchak Markets was an overwhelming experience for the senses. Stalls upon stalls of people selling similar types of products can make one very bored; especially if you're a seasoned and discerning shopper. But if you know where to go and the stalls to visit, it can be a shopper's paradise. You can buy literally everything there from pet snakes to designer clothing to custom made furniture for the home. And get it all sent to your home anywhere in the world!

There is a whole section devoted to artists!

I could've spent all day in the book section!

Everything and anything!

So delicious and cooling from the heat!

How gorgeous are these lanterns?

One of the highlights was meeting Artist Chaiyo.

Weekend Market

I'm off to Bangkok this weekend to visit Jatujak Markets - the world's biggest weekend market. I can't believe I haven't made it here yet. Apparently, it is overwhelming - imagine trawling through approximately 110,000 square metres. The market is divided into 27 sections and there are over 10,000 shops!!

Desk Snapshot - LOVE

Today, I am starting work on a new piece of art to celebrate Valentine's Day! Be sure to check back here on the 14th as some of my artist friends and I will be 'spreading the love'. Each of us will post our LOVE creation along with links to each other's artwork. It should be a lot of fun - I can't wait to see what other people are doing.

Bear hugs in KL

The United Buddy Bears promote 'living together in peace and harmony'. The first United Buddy Bears Exhibition was held in Berlin 2002 and each Buddy Bear shows the individual design created by different artists on behalf of their native countries. Since then, the project has toured all over the world and has raised around €1,800,000 (November 2011) through donations and auctions in aid of UNICEF and local children’s relief organisations.

Some were more recognisable than others

Islamic Arts Museum

When I was in KL last week, the highlight of my trip was visiting the Islamic Arts Museum. OMG - what an amazing source of inspiration! I felt like I had discovered Aladdin's cave. The museum is beautifully laid out and has a concise selection of the very best Islamic pieces in ceramics, jewellery, textiles, paintings etc. Take a look....

The domes in the ceiling were exquisite

Some of the detail in the decoration

Of course, I loved all the mosaic tiling and ceramics

This ring is actually a seal which was used to stamp documents

The architecture and astrological measuring tools.

CNY Decorations

Chinese New Year is a huge celebration here for everyone in Asia. I forget living in a small town how BIG and colourful the decorations can be, especially in the shopping malls! I think it's the only time when I can appreciate all the red and gold glitz.

Kiehls and Selangor Pewter Displays

Peonies, Cherry Blossoms, Lanterns.....

Selamat Pagi!

I'm in Kuala Lumpur this week. M has a conference on so I am the 'conference wife' LOL. Looking forward to showing you more of this unique city. It's a melting pot of Malay, Chinese, Muslim and Indian cultures so expect to see lots of colour, pattern etc.
