Introducing our 'New' Artist from the family.

This is my nephew Tyson's painting he did for me for my 40th birthday last month. I love everything about it - the colours, balance and composition. I love how kids draw and especially how they see the world. I wish I could paint like that again and not think about it what is 'right or wrong'.

It looks great framed in teak wood

New Plates at Anthropologie

I wish I didn't get these emails from Anthropologie - I've just discovered that there are some new Nathalie Lete plates in store. I love her work; I already have about 10 of these plates and I want these new ones. The question is whether I get them or not given the fact that we're travelling, I am not cooking at the moment and I have absolutely no idea when I will use these. The heart says 'yes' but the head says 'no'. What do you think I should do?

Desk Snapshot

I'm painting my first 'Tree of Life' design for a new range of ceramics. Look out for it sometime next year.

Testing the colour and technique - do I paint flat or watercoloury?

The talented Miss 'E'

I got a really lovely surprise the other day when I was contacted by Ellen Blonder - a exceptionally talented Asian American artist & author who just happens to paint what I LOVE: Flowers, Food and everything in between! Ellen has also written and illustrated several books including Dim Sum and Every Grain of Rice. Check out her blog too - she documents all her paintings as works in progress. Beautiful work.

C & C Flowers

I have to admit I am not the biggest lover of Chrysanthemums or Carnations, in fact I never ever buy them. But when we were in Taipei last year, I saw these floral arrangements at Villa 32 that maybe, has changed my mind about these flowers.....

These remind me of something

Desk Snapshot

I've been working on some new dragon artwork in time for next year. 2012 is the Year of the Dragon! This is the first time I've drawn dragons this year - they're quite tricky to design as you don't want them to be too scary.

The scales and initial sketch. The dragon looks like it has fake eyelashes on LOL!

Cloudy Day

I am loving these new limited edition prints from talented artist Eloise Renouf. I've been an admirer of Eloise's work for a while now as she used to do a range of beautiful greeting cards. Not sure if she is still doing them......All images copyright Eloise Renouf.

Random Googling

A bit of mindless fun. I was on the internet researching this morning and discovered that Google has colour selection criteria when researching images. Not sure how long they have had this but it's very clever. Here's some random screenshots:

Thai Airways

I bet you didn't know I was a bit of a plane geek - have been since childhood. Anyway, ways admired great design regardless of industry etc. One of my favourite airlines in terms of branding and how smart their planes look is Thai Airways. I've always thought their logo was so elegant and timeless.

I wonder if they got the inspiration from this?

C.A.P

One of my future project here in Chiang Mai will be collaborating with Chiang Mai Art on Paper Studio in Nimmanhaemin on some limited edition lithographs. The founder and artist extraordinaire Kitikong Tilokwattanotai is exceptionally talented and works with both local and international artists here in the workshop. It's such an inspiring place to visit.
