Tea Museum

The National Tea Museum

Inside there is a gorgeous open space for having tea
with exhibition gallery and shop

Love the display and the exquisite ceramics on offer

Some of the glazes are just incredible.

I had lotus leaf tea - good for restoration and reviving feet
for more shopping LOL!

The tea selection was huge.

A stroll through Insa-dong

I was tempted but I think I have to improve my 'Chinese painting'
before attempting to paint on fans.

There's always lots of various exhibitions happening in
the art district of Insadong.

One of my key finds - an antique store selling 100 year old
hand painted and wood block rice paper panels .

Clever Idea - digitally printed rulers on fabric for bar stools

Yep - there was definitely no KFC in here.

This time of the year is beautiful with all the ivy and greenery.
I especially love the gingko trees.

Exquisite door handle.

Tree Magic

Zoe Ouvrier is a French artist who creates beautiful art pieces by engraving into wooden panels. The effect is extraordinary. We first saw her work at MaisonObjet many years ago and to re-discover her work here at the Westin Chosun (where we're staying this week) was a nice surprise. Incidentally, this hotel is the oldest western style hotel to ever open in Korea - it's 97 years old today. Thank God, it's had a facelift LOL!

Afternoon Tea in Singapore

Last Sunday was one of my perfect days - shopping then catching up with friends for afternoon tea! The Regent Hotel has one of the best Afternoon Teas I've ever had. It's actually a buffet of everything I love and even more - Caviar, Smoked Salmon, freshly made scones and souffles to order, chocolate fountain, Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, macaroons, ice cream.......if only every afternoon could be spent like this.

An enjoyable 4 hours....

The Tea Lounge

Lots of yummy things on offer

Unfortunately, I don't have many good photos of the food so check out this review for more gastroporn shots.

Singapore Fling

This weekend, I stayed at the Wanderlust Hotel in Little India. "Wanderlust is a left-field and totally experimental boutique hotel set to draw madcap voyagers and curious travellers to its doorstep". Each of the rooms are decorated in Pantone, Mono or Whimsical Style.

I stayed in the Pantone White Room which was a bit too white for me. As everything is all open plan and tiled, I literally was sleeping in the bathroom! It was a fun place to stay though I think I would've preferred a room with more colour. What I did love was the Kiehl's toiletries and the gorgeous little handbook they give you with maps, blank pages to take notes, photos, artwork and places to visit in Little India.

The hotel is set in an old school building built in the 1920's

Loving the tiles on the facade

fun and eclectic lobby

Indian wallpaper

Love the details such as the Campari Light Fittings

Bali

Been laying low the past week. I got bitten by some mosquitoes and have a bit of a fever. Hopefully will feel better soon with the antibiotics the doctor prescribed at the airport. Here's some pics of the wonderful resort we stayed when we were in Ubud, Bali:

Komaneka at Bisma - Heaven on Earth"

Love the styling and interiors of the suites; my sort of look - simple, modern and elegant with a touch of tradition, colour and pattern thrown in!

They lay the bed with a 'heart' of petals - very sweet

After travelling for 3 months, we know a good bathroom when we see one!

Leeum Museum

Just down the road from our hotel is the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art....

Can you see Louise Bourgeois's Spiders?
We've seen these spiders in NY, London and now Seoul!!The
The museum was created so we can participate and enjoy the dialogue between art, people & culture.
Sitting on one of Louise Bourgeois's eye benches
Gorgeous spiral staircase

The Leeum Museum shows both traditional and modern art with an emphasis on Korean works!

The 'Memories of the Future' exhibition featured several renowned international artists
It was great to see Michael Lin's work in the flesh.

We love pattern - everything is hand painted!
